We are looking for a Project Manager to work within our Operations department. They will be responsible for all scheduling and budgeting aspects of project(s) and manage the delivery of Company Projects through the complete Product Lifecycle, on time & to agreed budget.

The successful candidate will need to be confident and competent in all aspects of their job and be capable of a high standard of work, self motivated, flexible with a ‘can do’ attitude and able to meet tight deadlines.

Due to high work demand we welcome applications for both contract and permanent positions; ideally with ability to start work within one month.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Responsible for regular Project Tracking Reports & distribution to relevant groups & individuals

• Devise & deliver reports for flagging exceptions (highlight critical path & any shortfalls, e.g. Resource, Capacity)

• Provide support to Project Administration and Production Co-ordination as and when required & others in the product lifecycle

• Working closely with the Program Technical Director throughout, responsible for gathering the technical requirements for each project, considering & reporting the impact on Project Targets & Deliverables

• Responsible for clearly defining the project’s targets/deliverables and co-ordination of tasks (resources and capacity) derived from each project specification

• Working with Department Heads & Managers to identify Project Resource & Capacity exceptions & find resolutions

• Familiarisation with industry legislation pertaining to the project

Essential Skills and Qualifications:

• Mechanical Engineering degree (Preferably 2:1 or above) &/or relevant experience of managing engineering development projects through from Prototype to Production

• Good level of Technical & Engineering understanding – Motorsport &/or Aerospace experience is preferable

• Challenges data and current ways of thinking

• Experience of Project Management & Reporting Systems & Project Planning Tools, MS Project

• Excellent problem solving skills

• Excellent verbal and written communication/presentation skills

Simulation Modelling & Controls Engineer

A vacancy has arisen for an experienced engineer to become a key member of a dynamic team working on  fast-moving and challenging projects, such as motorsport and flight dynamics. You will be working in a very challenging environment which we are continuously improving to bring benefits to the programmes we are involved in.

Simulation and Modelling is central to the design and development of WR products.  Models are developed for many purposes throughout the lifecycle of the product:

  • models to support initial feasibility and concept proving studies
  • models to support design development
  • models to support trials programmes, including trials predictions

Experience in applying control expertise across a range of projects is also desirable. Typically this will involve the design, development and implementation of algorithms in the following areas: Autopilot; Precision servo control loops; Target tracking algorithms.

The Role

  • Responsible for the design and development of all performance models
  • Perform technical analyses and investigations into a full range of issues and problems and prepare and develop solutions
  • Develop and implement software that supports and integrates the simulations, models and analysis algorithms, to allow them to interact with the other software systems within the company
  • Experience in the design, development and implementation of control engineering algorithms
  • Experience in the simulation of complex systems, including integration and verification of hardware-in-the-loop (HWIL) components


  • An appropriate good Engineering Degree or Masters e.g. Systems or Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, Physics
  • A proven track record in the following:

o   Simulation & Modelling – preferably in applications for  motorsport and/or flight dynamics

o   High level programming languages such as Dymola/Modelica and C++

o   Experience in the use of simulation and design tools, preferably Matlab / Simulink

o   Experience of modelling real time systems is highly desirable.

o   Ability to produce a computer simulation from a parametric specification

  • A keen understanding of modelling processes and their appropriate application
  • Ideally will have knowledge and experience of Software configuration
  • Have an understanding of and an ability to work within defined processes
  • Have the ability to visualize and analyse complex systems
  • Have practical knowledge of basic engineering principles and processes
  • Have experience in applying systems engineering practices to large hardware/software development efforts, preferably in a motorsport and/or aircraft environment
  • Have good understanding of, and good working experience in all phases of the engineering life cycle
  • An interest and understanding of numerical methods and mathematical modelling, and dynamic simulation of mechanical systems
  • Pro-active and capable of working on your own initiative with a minimum of supervision, as well as within a wider project team

We are looking for a talented individual to work within our R&D Department  supporting projects with all aspects of the electronics product development process from architecture & concept definition through to detailed modelling, production and all validation phases.

The ideal candidate will be a hands-on, enthusiastic individual with good understanding of electronics, with the ability to identify problems and work effectively with people at all levels.

Typical tasks will include:

  • Ability to use basic test equipment e.g. DMM, oscilloscope etc
  • Fault finding of digital and analogue circuitry
  • Operating power and manual tools safely
  • Understand drawings, technical manuals and instructions to perform system installation activities
  • Installation and assembly of electronic systems based on technical specifications
  • Ability to wire miniature sub assemblies and experience of working with miniature connectors
  • Repair and maintain electronic systems as needed
  • Responsible for soldering work – wiring, SMT construction and rework, including leaded components
  • Make cable and wiring connections accurately
  • Perform regular inspections to identify defects and replacements
  • Construction of custom test equipment and perform system testing to evaluate performance and functionality
  • Maintain inventory control of electronic components and tools
  • Maintain documentations of system installation and maintenance procedures
  • Recommend upgrades and modifications to improve system performance

Essential Skills and Qualifications:

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent in a relevant discipline (Electronics, Mechatronics)
  • Experience preferable in motorsport, aerospace or safety critical environment

3D Artist

3D Artist

We are looking for an experienced 3D Artist to join our Graphics department. This role will suit someone with a background in 3D animation/modelling and have worked in a creative studio environment or project. This is an opportunity to have creative freedom and input on projects internally as well as with external clients. You will work on a variety of exciting projects within a multiple of industry sectors from defence to motor sports and architecture.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide general graphic design support to Wirth Research such as product rendering, creating marketing material, website graphic, company branding to film edit and animation.
  • Converting CAD data for the use of animation and rendering.
  • Monitor and report progress of graphics projects against agreed targets and schedules.
  • Create high quality visualisation and animation representations for internal and external clients
  • Working closely with the CFD department in developing new tools, techniques and workflow for using CFD data in other application (e.g. animating within 3Ds Max)
  • Ensure ongoing development of personal skill set in new methods used within 3D visualisation

Essential Skills and Qualifications:

  • Qualification within 3D design/animation or experience in a relevant field
  • Strong knowledge of 3dsmax
  • Rendering using Mental Ray and Vray
  • Ability to create high quality studio style renders
  • All round 3D animation skill and effects
  • Strong knowledge of Adobe creative suite: After effect, Illustrator, In design
  • Able to animate in After effect including infographic and effects
  • Able to learn new skills and software quickly
  • Able to work alone on entire project with tight deadlines
  • Must have good initiative and problem solving skills
  • Good all round modelling and texturing abilities

Desirable Skills:

  • All rounded generalist and able to work with multiple software
  • Knowledge of CAD data and format
  • Film editing skills
  • Able to mock up ideas, concepts and storyboard
  • Some understanding of CFD data and how to convert for use in other 3D applications
  • Understanding of point cloud data (laser scanning)
  • Able to work with real time engine (Unity, Unreal)
