We are looking for an aerodynamicist to join our Aero-CFD department where you will work alongside senior engineers within a high tech, fast paced department. This opportunity would ideally suit a post graduate or a junior engineer looking to further their career and gain some great engineering exposure within a business who are at the forefront of new technologies.

The main focus of the role will be to provide aerodynamic development on various projects and develop CFD methodology. Job duties will include analysis of numerical and graphical aero data and interpret flow structures, generate detailed reports of work carried out, diagnose and fix problems and to verify mesh quality and boundary conditions. This role will require someone with strong analytical skills with a problem solving mentality. This opportunity will give someone the opportunity to gain great exposure to a variety of different tasks and industries.

Essential skills and qualifications required for this role should include a strong Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering Degree or equivalent with a 2:1 or above. This should include a final year CFD project or industrial CFD/aero experience.

R&D Technician

R&D Technician

Wirth Research is an innovative, cutting-edge engineering company, specialising in research & development across multiple industry sectors.

We are looking for an R&D Technician to work within our R&D department. They will be responsible for preparing and performing testing of components and assemblies. The ideal candidate will be a hands on, enthusiastic individual with proven experience of working from technical drawings. They will need to be confident and competent in all aspects of their job and be capable of a high standard of work, self motivated, flexible, able to work on their own with a ‘can do’ attitude, able to meet tight deadlines.

Typical tasks will include:

• Preparing and performing R&D testing of components and assemblies

• R&D workshop maintenance and administration

• Development of test procedures, documentation and equipment

• Component assembly for production and test to technical drawings procedures and specifications

  • Construction of wiring looms and soldering (desirable)

Candidates will be expected to display the following:

• Able to manage their own time and workload and show great organisational skills

• Able to follow technical drawings and manuals

• Able to communicate with people at all levels both internally in the company and with external customers

• Methodical and disciplined approach

• Good understanding of mechanical systems

• A basic understanding of electronics, instrumentation and software would be desirable

• Ability to work in fast paced environment

R&D Engineer

R&D Engineer

We are looking for a R&D Engineer to work within our R&D department. They will be responsible for performing tests and reporting on the performance of products and designs relative to key parameters such as safety, functionality and customer requirements. This will require data analysis, test rig design and writing short reports.The successful candidate will need to be confident and competent in all aspects of their job and be capable of a high standard of work, self motivated, flexible with a ‘can do’ attitude and able to meet tight deadlines.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Develop analytical tools when required in order to process and present testing work

• Carry out theoretical/data analysis to support projects

• Design and develop test rigs for component validation and testing within the company design standards tools and systems

• Define test specifications, methods and documentation

• Write reports and verbally present work within the company and to internal and external customers where required

• Attend testing on and off site

• Report on testing task progress through to completion

Essential Skills:

• Achieved a Mechanical Engineering Degree or equivalent

• Proven understanding of CAD modelling

• Experience of and understanding of programming principles (VBA) desirable

• Understanding of fundamental design and manufacturing principles
